Lay Training Institute
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Mt Olive offers a Lay Training Institute to better equip men and women for service as God's people in the church, in the home, in the community and in the world.
Purpose
The purpose of the Lay Training Institute (LTI) is to equip and develop leaders, both professional and volunteer, for the work of mission and ministry in congregations of the greater Rockford, Illinois area.
LTI will …
- Train and equip leaders for church work on a variety of levels to improve and enhance personal skills.
- Provide a sequence of training seminars which leads to a certification credential in the Northern Illinois District of the LCMS.
- Offer graduate credit toward a Master of Christian Education degree.
Church volunteers and staff who complete this program will offer their congregation the following knowledge and skills for ministry:
- Knowledge of the Old and New Testaments and the doctrines of the LCMS.
- Vision for mission and leadership of ministry in a congregation.
- Knowledge skills and practical experience for a specialized ministry of their choice
Ministry Specialist Certification
To receive NID certification as a Ministry Specialist, individuals need to complete a total of ten one day Saturday seminars as follows:
- 3 Bible (1 OT/2 NT)
- 2 Non-Bible Theology
- 4 specialty seminars
